Following the blasting in February, construction work is progressing on the long-awaited Berriedale Braes improvement project, which is due for completion by Spring 2020. The new road will improve journey times and road safety.
The £9.6m contract to make the improvements was awarded to RJ MacLeod Ltd, a Dingwall based contractor, at the beginning of the year.
Currently, vehicles have difficulty passing each other on the hairpin, with oncoming traffic taking up most of the road. The improvement project will see 530 metres of new single trunk road constructed.
In the first newsletter for the project, RJ McLeod Ltd outlined the progress and plans for the coming months, and a Community Liaison Officer, Ryan MacClean, will be keeping communities informed on progress and is on-hand to respond to any queries or concerns. His contact information is as follows:
Email: a9berriedale@rjmcleod.co.uk
24-hour helpline: 0203 297 7161
Further details about the scheme can be found at Transport for Scotland.
